英文課程概要
English Course Description |
Nearly a billion people in the world survive on less than a dollar a day. How does living in poverty affect the lives of the poor and what can be done about it? The course introduces a range of quantitative tools to explore the microeconomic foundations of economic policymaking in developing countries. Classes will combine economic theory and empirical analysis to better understand the impact of economic development policy on development goals. By the end of the course students will be able to identify the most appropriate empirical strategy required to assess the impact of a given micro-development policy, and to engage in evidence-based policy-making by being able to critically consume empirically oriented academic research and policy analysis on the microeconomics of development. The course is organized around three main themes: (a) Human Development (Health and Education); (b) Institutions, Government and Markets (Institutions, Government Effectiveness and Private Sector Development); (c) Frontier Topics (Social Networks, Cultural Economics and Migration). |
