人文素養	1.英美文學:以年代與藝文思潮為主軸，簡介作者、作品、時代背景及精神，提供學生所需之西方文化基礎知識。 2.語言學: 由基礎的語言學至進階的句法學，學生可以了解語言學的來源發展及用途。提供學生多元應用語言學的途徑，及學生研究與語言學以及英語教學的進修基礎。
英語文能力	1.英語聆聽能力 :增加口語英語溝通能力，理解並紀錄生活、專業層面各種主題的口頭陳述。 2.英語口語表達能力 :具備討論、面談、小型報告、演說與辯論的英語表達能力。 3.英語閱讀能力:培養進階英文、各類文類閱讀能力。 4.英語寫作能力:寫作能力。
傳播應用能力	1.英語教學。 2.翻譯:培養中英對譯能力。 3.媒體英語文:訓練學生將傳播與現今多媒體或翻譯能力與英語語言學科結合，強化學生英語與傳播應用能力，達到語言為用的目標。

教學目標
Course Objectives

This course aims to develop students’ critical understanding of American short stories and drama through close reading, contextual analysis, and interpretive discussion. Students will examine representative works from diverse historical periods and cultural perspectives to analyze how American writers employ narrative structure, characterization, language, and dramatic form to explore social, political, and ethical concerns. By the end of the course, students will strengthen their analytical writing, oral communication, and research skills, and demonstrate the ability to situate literary texts within broader traditions of American literary history and criticism.
