Chinese Course Description

此課程專為已修過新聞英文(一)之學生設計。課程目的在於培養具備新聞英文實際知識及駕馭中英文能力之編譯。由於新聞英文(二)為進階課程，學生必須深入並廣泛地涉獵各類型英文報章雜誌中之新聞文章，如國際前鋒論壇報、紐約時報、時代雜誌、及新聞週報等。　　隨堂之翻譯報告能幫助學生逐步達到翻譯的流暢性及精準性。複雜的文章內容形式及長度亦用來培養學生建立語言能力。在英譯中之口頭報告中，學生必須提供內容大綱、找出文中關鍵字之背景資料、準確流暢地報告翻譯內容，並解釋翻譯過程中所遭遇之瓶頸。此練習之目的在於幫助學生實際應用課堂中習得之技巧，如資料蒐集、找對字來精確刻畫新聞事件的方法。啟發思考的閱讀與討論能力及真實的新聞報導能使學生適切地與英語系國家的人溝通。再者，經過兩年新聞英文的訓練，學生不僅能夠在第一時間內攫取其他國家的新聞議題及觀點，同時也能成為優秀的英中編譯者。

英文課程概要
English Course Description

This course is designed for students who have taken Journalistic English (I). The main objective is to cultivate seasoned editor-translator who are well-equipped with the know-how in Journalism as well as competent in both Chinese and English. Since this is an advanced course, students are required to read intensively as well as extensively news articles from English newspapers and news magazines such as International Herald Tribune, New York Times, Times, Newsweek, etc. In class presentation of translation pieces help students progressively develop fluency and accuracy in translation. Complexity in both text type and length is also meant to help students build their competency gradually. In their oral presentation of translated news articles from English into Chinese, they are required to provide an outline of the text; find out background information about key words in the text; present a translation piece of news article with both fluency and accuracy; and explain how they handle problems in translation. The main objective of these drills is to help them put into practice the skills that they have learned in class such as information-gathering skills and the search-for-the-right-word method to portray the news events accurately. The ability to read and discuss issues concerning thought-provoking and authentic news stories empowers students to interact responsibly and socially with native speakers. Moreover, after two years of training in Journalistic English, they not only are able to take a first-hand look at the issues and viewpoints of another country but also have become competent editor-translator from English to Chinese.

平面、影音、與數位媒介之新聞編採能力	(1)以跨媒體整合方式訓練學生，讓學生了解新聞是什麼，以及新聞價值判斷的不同面向，進而學習新聞採寫的基本原則及要領。並循序漸進訓練的技能讓修課學生在已有的訓練下，接觸各種不同的採訪類型，強化技巧與內容 (2)依基礎及進階的練習，以媒體屬性分別提供實務訓練，藉此為同學奠定未來從事新聞編採工作的基本能力。
數位匯流之新聞設計能力	(1)以媒體匯流跨平台概念整合，小世界報紙組、電視組及網路組的實際運作，來提升並整合整體採訪寫作與編輯能力。 (2)透過不同組別的訓練，在跨平台實習驗證，亦可習得實戰的媒體經驗。
媒介識讀與文化批判反思能力	(1)透過傳播理論、傳播史與社會文化相關領域範疇之培育，強化學生人文素養與思辨能力。 (2)透過公共新聞相關學理的培養，提高學生的社區與社群關懷，強化公共參與。
社區與國際議題之公共參與能力	(1)提供多元專業領域課程，強化學生於各領域之專業知識，涵蓋社會、經濟、政治與心理等範疇，增加新聞實作內涵，並依其所學發展新聞領域，成為全方位之專業人才。 (2)透過公共新聞相關學理的培養，提高學生的社區與社群關懷，強化公共參與。 (3)媒體實習與實作課程培養學生實務工作能力，讓理論與實作經驗結合，縮減學用落差。 (4)培養學生觀察國際現勢之傳播能力。
英語新聞產製能力	(1)透過英語授課與專業新聞訓練課程，培養學生新聞寫作、口說、編譯能力。 (2)培養學生熟悉國際事務，瞭解國際新聞編寫與製作。

教學目標

藉由閱讀英文報章雜誌，
以及同學對文章翻譯與新聞背景之研究與分享，
老師對同學譯文之指導、糾正，和資訊補充，
期使同學能更了解新聞編譯之常犯錯與訣竅。

授課方式
Approach to Instruction

1. Instructor Lecture：
老師將講解英文報章雜誌文章，
幫助同學抓住文章大綱，
克服翻譯難度較高文章之障礙。

2. Student Presentation：
同學上台報告英文報章雜誌文章之翻譯、
分享字彙、新聞背景之收集。
