English Course Description |
This course introduces students to current theoretical and empirical work
on the intersections between gender and body. Course readings address multiple
concepts of gender and body from a critical point of view including those of
sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, history and media studies.
Course topics include an overview of foundational theories on the body,
the body and gender differences, a history of women’s bodies, the
medicalization of women’s bodies, and the social construction of male,
female and queer bodies. |
