This course analyzes China’s influence over the international situation after rising as a strong power locally and globally. The theoretic basis used here is essentially drawn from Paul Kennedy’s The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers. This course centers on the relations between great nations as well as issues regarding globalization. It introduces to students China’s relations with strong powers such as the US after its rise, and explores China’s influences over the international system and international organizations after its blending into the global system. It further traces how after the end of the Cold War the whole world entering the era of Capitalist Globalization, appeared distinct issues such as the weakening of the concept of absolute sovereignty, the fashion of values such as human rights and nationalism, the strengthening of collective safety mechanism, the far reaching power of multinational enterprises, as well as the reinforcing role of international mechanism. |
